Imaging, Scanning and CTP

FFEI has developed the most comprehensive range of violet laser CtP in the world, manufacturing products on behalf of Fujifilm, and more recently the leading Chinese Graphics supplier Beijing Founder Electronics and TechNova, India’s largest printing plate manufacturer.

Violet offers a cost effective, reliable solution as the laser pens in an FFEI Violet CtP boasts a life of over 5,000 imaging hours (typically 5 years commercial use) giving better cost savings compared to the multiple laser arrays or laser bars used in thermal devices.

Our internal drum platesetter range utilises a separate laser to detect the edge of the plate, allowing for precise plate-to-plate registration. FFEI CTP uses either single or twin lasers to expose the plate, which use a patented optical system that incorporates a high speed spinner (up to 60 K rpm). This optical system exposes 10 micron width scan lines on to the plate and this accuracy is maintained over the entire plate giving consistent high quality exposure.

There is still some debate between thermal and visible-light imaging technology, although advances in Violet mean that these machines are now capable of achieving the higher quality demands of commercial printing, without compromising on speed and efficiency.

Utilising our wealth of experience in digital imaging technology, FFEI have also been working with high profile organisations in the biotechnology, screening and medical research markets, to develop new techniques for discovery and analysis.

Our most recent development was to create a highly sophisticated micro slide scanner which scans and digitalises slide readings at high speed with remarkable accuracy. The product has a patented dynamic focus tracking function that reveals a high level of a tissue specimen’s detail, enabling greater reliability in results and reducing the time taken to reach diagnosis.

FFEI is ISO 13485 certified for quality management in the manufacture of digital scanning microscopes. This award demonstrates our commitment to ongoing research and development in new micro scanning techniques for use in biotechnology, screening and medical research.
