Varnishing, coating and sealing provides the opportunity to ‘add value’ to print, helping to maintain a competitive edge by offering the all important WOW factor to customer jobs. Our industrial digital coater, Emblaze, utilises unique single pass inkjet technology to coat press sheets from digital, offset or a combination of both with a variety of flood or spot UV coating effects.
Digital files are sent to the Emblaze user interface using the same settings as the printed sheets and so resourcing make-ready times and allowing for full variable print capabilities. And as it’s digital, there’s no need for plates, blankets or different varnishes.
But how do you spot coat when every single sheet coming off a digital press has variable data placed on it and requires a mix of gloss and silk effects? Easy…Emblaze uses a singe source of fluid to generate different types of print finishes, utilising the greyscale technology of the Xaar 1001 through flow (TF) inkjet head. This allows the drop size to be varied changing the appearance of the coating and giving complete accuracy to the finish.
Emblaze is set to revolutionise the UV coating and print finishing industry and has the capabilities to fully support the advantages of both digital and hybrid printing.
