JOB TITLE: MANUFACTURING ENGINEERING ADVANCED APPRENTICE

FFEI are looking for a motivated apprentice who has a passion for technology to join our Manufacturing Engineer Advanced Apprenticeship scheme for the forthcoming academic year.

As an Apprentice Manufacturing Engineer you will undertake an Apprenticeship programme enabling you to become a qualified Manufacturing Engineer.

Whilst you are studying you will be responsible for the introduction, support and maintenance of products and their associated manufacturing processes. Products are engineered for low volume production, typically 100 units per annum and involve complex systems with optical, mechanical, electronic and software content.

The role covers set up of production processes, documentation and technology, liasing with Research and Development, Operations and Customer Support departments.

Once a skilled Manufacturing Engineer working within a multi-disciplined team, you will be responsible for all aspects of the introduction, support and maintenance of a product and its associated manufacturing processes.

The scheme lasts for 3 years and consists of day release at Oaklands College, Welwyn Garden City. You will obtain a BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Engineering with Electronic/Electrical bias plus an NVQ Level 3 in Engineering.

What are the qualifications I need to apply for an Advanced Apprenticeship?

Apprentices enrolling onto the Advanced Apprenticeship scheme must have completed either the full intermediate Apprenticeship in Engineering or NVQ 2 Performing Engineering Operations and must hold GCSE Maths and English Grade A – C.

What happens next?

All applicants who meet our short listing criteria will be invited to attend an Open Day at our premises in Hemel Hempstead (date to be confirmed). This will give you an opportunity to discuss our apprenticeship scheme, see our working environment, view our products, and meet key personnel.

You will be invited to attend a follow up assessment day to establish your suitability for an apprenticeship with us.

When does the FFEI Engineering Apprenticeship Scheme start?

The successful applicant will be advised as soon as possible after attending our premises and undertaking the follow up assessment day.   You will receive a Contract of Employment to sign, giving details of your Apprenticeship including your start date, working hours and salary.

It is anticipated the successful applicant will start work with us before attending Oaklands College in Welwyn Garden City for the start of your training in order to become familiar with the working environment.
