Packaging Innovations – see you there!

A lot’s been happening since FFEI showcased Graphium at the last Packaging Innovations show.  Here are just some of the exciting highlights that we’d love to talk with you about at the show this year. Come and visit us on stand H22.

Graphium – the hybrid digital inkjet label press

Graphium offers converters increased flexibility and productivity, enabling them to accept complex projects requiring a wide gamut of colours on virtually any substrate. Supporting up to five digital colour modules and six flexo stations, Graphium offers the unique capability from a single vendor of being able to integrate optional flexo and finishing stations inline for conversion in a single pass.

Building on FFEI’s wealth of expertise in digital inkjet technologies, Graphium combines the latest leading-edge technologies that allow users to uniquely convert complex jobs that are not normally economically viable with standalone conventional or inkjet presses.  With innovative workflow, prepress, colour management software and cutting-edge head calibration technology, Graphium’s technologies ensure consistent quality through repeatable production and guarantee a match between press and proof. Printers and converters are able to benefit from high-quality, vibrant printing, with excellent adhesion, light fastness and durability.

This short video sums up the benefits of hybrid perfectly.

Distinct Packabilities

We were very pleased to announce from the show floor at Label Expo the purchase of Graphium, by Distinct Packabilities, a wholly owned subsidiary of Publisher’s Printing Company.  Distinct Packabilities provides a variety of service offerings to flexible packaging and prime label end users, and are particularly well known for producing outstanding quality on their state-of-the-art flexo presses utilizing Fujifilm Clarity Water Washable Flexo plates and Fujifilm Flexo inks.

Industry first – digital under and over white capability

At Label Expo Americas we made a major leap forward in the industry by demonstrating Graphium’s new over white capability, which is set to further extend the different applications a digital UV inkjet press can be used for. Adding an over white print capability not only increases the overall flexibility of what can be produced but also dramatically increases the potential opacity when used with the Graphium under white.  This new, unique capability provides converters with a host of additional ways to enhance the overall look and feel of their labels.

Meeting the workflow challenge of hybrid label converting

Getting the most out of a hybrid printing solution requires good digital workflow technology to ensure the correct handling of the various files. FFEI has many years of experience in this field and has been investing a great deal of time and effort into some new products & ideas – details in a future blog post to follow.
