Student Technology Tournament 2016
For the 4th year running FFEI are proud sponsors of this years Rotary Club Student Technology Tournament taking place at Ashlyns School, Berkhamsted and run by the Rotary clubs of Berkhamsted Bulbourne and Hemel Hempstead.
On Thursday 17th March over 110 students from local schools competed in teams to devise and build a solution to a technical challenge. Solutions are tested at the end of the day and judged against competing teams. Judges come from a range of background including staff from FFEI’s own engineering team.
The event is designed to get students with an interest in engineering, design, technology and science, to design and build a solution to a technical task within a specific time frame. The teams need to have good communication skills, be well organised and able to show the stages of development of their task solution in a design portfolio. Each team’s solution as a working model is competitively tested and assessed by a team of judges. Recognition is given to the winning teams in each of three age categories.
Andy Cook, Managing Director of FFEI commented, ‘We are delighted to be so involved with this event that helps engage & encourage budding young engineers & scientists. I have to thank the fantastic efforts of our local Rotary Club this year who have helped the event go from strength to strength.’ Cook goes on to say: ‘ high technology engineering companies like FFEI need engineers of the future and we hope this is one way to help spark a passion that may turn into a career for these students’.
